The album begins with Simon reflecting on the life he has lived. We can assume that he is supposedly dead because he tells us that he is...

He is prepared to tell us the story of his life, the way he met his girlfriend, he is prepared to tell us how these two died. Describing that in this story...

With all this clear we can move on to the next song. Isle unto thyself..
in this song Simon explains us how he came to Hawaii, he mentions a past relationship nicknamed "Island", the song is called "Isle unto thyself" cuz the last relationship he had is like an island and the only way to talk with her was sail a sea between them metaphorically.

It is for that reason that they both separated, she was his first girlfriend so he was nervous about having to leave her, but he already suffered a lot with her and the only thing he wanted to do was start from the beggining, which caused him to move to Hawaii.

Now the most important moment happens after that kind of foreshadowing, Simon meets Stella where she appears in her own song "Black rainbows" the lyrics of this songs are in Hawaiian and English, Simon's lyrics mention the colors of the rainbow, while Stella's lyrics ask Simon if he remembers connected rainbows.

When they are together, they seem to bee in tune, if we pay attention to what is said in this song, certain patterns are revealed, Stella repeats a certain phrase during the entire song.. "Stella Octangula" which is our next step to investigate to understand this album..
